Why Slow Breathing? Why deep breathing? Why not breathe deeply and quickly?

Slow Breathing

The advantages of DEEP BREATHING should be obvious. Maximum intake is possible with deep breathing for each respiration.
The best exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs during slow breathing. It takes time for carbon dioxide in the blood to be moved into the lungs for expulsion into the air and for oxygen to be delivered from the lungs to the blood. The ideal oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange is not achieved in the lungs if one breaths quickly. The best transfer may be made if breathing is done slowly. Because of this, the relationship between breathing depth and breathing rate is crucial.
Deep Breathing allows maximum intake for each respiration and Slow Breathing allows optimum exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
